I honestly think you're spot on about the timing. They are clearly trying to clean up the balance sheet before the quarter ends to make the margins look prettier for investors. It's a classic move: gut the internal support teams, call it 'operational efficiency,' and hope the stock price bumps up. Unfortunately, once they start these consolidation rounds, they rarely stop at just one location. Expect more of the same across other regional hubs in the coming months. Keep your resume polished and stay ready.
It is honestly depressing to watch the company culture shift like this. We all knew things were getting tighter, but seeing 249 people walked out the door really drives it home that none of us are safe. The 'restructuring' narrative is such a corporate mask for poor management decisions that they are now making the employees pay for. At this point, the office feels like a waiting room for the next round of layoffs. I hope everyone affected lands on their feet quickly because this place is clearly pivoting toward a very dark path.
