Just saw the official WARN notice hit the wires. 249 employees in Portland are officially on the list for the September 20th cutoff. It’s a massive blow to the team out there. For those of you asking, the notice confirms it’s a permanent closure/layoff scenario, not a temporary furlough. If you are one of the people impacted, check your internal portal immediately for the severance documentation. Based on what I've seen from similar moves in retail, they usually keep the terms pretty standard to avoid legal blowback, but don't sign anything until you've had a second set of eyes on it. It’s brutal timing with the current job market being as weird as it is. Stay strong, keep your network close, and if you have questions about the logistics of the notice period, try to get them answered by your lead sooner rather than later. Don't let them string you along with vague 'transition' promises if you have a way out sooner. Hang in there everyone.

This is absolutely devastating news for everyone in Portland. My heart goes out to all the employees getting this notice today. I worked for the company years ago and know how much effort the staff puts into these stores, so seeing nearly 250 people lose their livelihoods is incredibly hard to process. Please make sure you download all your pay stubs and benefits info before you lose portal access. It's a tough day, but keep your heads up and start updating those resumes immediately.

Another day, another retail chain cutting costs by pulling the plug on physical locations. It’s a ruthless business move, and unfortunately, the local team is the one paying the price for corporate strategy. If you’re caught in this, don't just sign the first severance paper they hand you without reading the fine print. Take a breath, contact your local labor board if you suspect anything is off, and start networking on LinkedIn. Opportunities are out there, even if it doesn't feel like it right now.
