Is anyone else noticing a hiring freeze in non-revenue generating roles?

Hey all, been at ServiceNow for about 5 years now, working in a marketing ops role. Lately, it feels like the tap has been turned off for any new hires outside of direct sales or core engineering. We had a few open reqs for my team that have been stalled for months, and when I casually asked my manager, they just gave a vague 'budget review.' It's making me wonder if this is a company-wide thing or if my department is just being squeezed. Has anyone else heard similar chatter about hiring freezes, especially in support functions? Trying to gauge if I should be more concerned about job security or if it's just a normal cyclical thing.

Yeah, I'm seeing something similar. Been in a G&A function for a while, and our headcount requests for the next quarter have been put on indefinite hold. It's definitely more than just a 'budget review' – feels like a deliberate slowdown across non-customer-facing teams. My guess is they're prioritizing anything that directly impacts the bottom line or product development right now. It's a bit frustrating, but I can understand the business rationale behind it, especially in the current economic climate.

Hmm, 'budget review' is often corporate speak for 'we're not hiring.' I've been with ServiceNow for a few years now, and I've seen hiring ebb and flow depending on market conditions. If sales and core engineering are still getting headcount, it sounds like a strategic decision to focus resources. Could be temporary, or it could be a longer-term shift. My advice would be to keep your head down, deliver excellent work, and maybe look for ways to demonstrate how your role *does* contribute to revenue, even indirectly.
