Is the San Diego culture dying? Layoffs hitting 63 people today

Another day, another round of cuts. Seeing 63 heads roll at the SD office today honestly makes me question why I’m still here. We keep getting told that 'growth is the priority' and that the platform is more relevant than ever, yet the headcount keeps shrinking. Are we just optimizing for the stock price at this point? I’ve seen so many talented engineers and product managers walk out the door in the last year that the institutional knowledge is just hemorrhaging. If you're currently in SD and got caught up in this, please reach out. I’m happy to offer referrals at other companies in the area. This whole vibe is just getting exhausting. Is anyone actually feeling safe in their role right now, or are we all just waiting for our turn?

It is honestly exhausting to keep hearing about 'growth' while watching the people who actually build the product get shown the door. I have been at the San Diego office for years, and the atmosphere has shifted from innovation-focused to purely bean-counting. When you lose this much institutional knowledge in such a short window, you aren't just cutting overhead; you’re gutting the future of the platform. Management needs to stop hiding behind stock price metrics and actually address the morale crisis before there is nobody left to maintain the infrastructure.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. It’s a harsh reality that many of us in the tech sector are facing, but that doesn't make it any less demoralizing. When you see 63 colleagues let go in a single day, the 'we are a family' narrative falls apart immediately. It sounds like the culture has shifted toward a cold, efficiency-first mindset that prioritizes quarterly reports over the humans who make the company functional. Please take care of yourself, update your portfolio, and know that your worth isn’t tied to a corporate headcount reduction.
