ServiceNow SD: Anyone else feel like this was inevitable?

Man, this ServiceNow layoff news in San Diego from June 12th is rough, but honestly, was anyone else getting a weird vibe beforehand? I wasn't in one of the affected groups, but there were definitely whispers and a general sense of caution creeping in over the last few months. It felt like the rapid growth might have been slowing down, or maybe there were internal re-orgs happening that weren't public. It's easy to look back now and see signs, but I'm just wondering if others picked up on similar signals. Did anyone see specific departments or projects that seemed like they were being scaled back even before this announcement? Not trying to point fingers or anything, just trying to understand the bigger picture. It's always a shock, but sometimes you can sense the wind changing direction. Curious to hear if anyone else felt it.

Yeah, it's tough to hear about layoffs anywhere, especially in a growing tech hub like San Diego. I wasn't directly involved, but I did notice a shift in some project timelines and a bit more scrutiny on new hires a while back. It seemed like they were consolidating resources or perhaps pivoting some focus areas internally. It's never a good sign when efficiency starts to outweigh expansion in the public narrative.

I definitely had a feeling things might be tightening up. The pace of growth seemed almost unsustainable, and sometimes that kind of rapid expansion can lead to an eventual correction. There were a few instances where budgets seemed tighter than usual, and some departmental initiatives that were initially greenlit seemed to get stalled. It’s a harsh reality of the business cycle, unfortunately.
