Severance package - what to expect?

Hypothetically speaking, if ServiceNow were to have layoffs, what's the typical severance package like? I've been here for 5 years in a technical role (Principal Engineer). I'm trying to mentally prepare myself, and knowing what kind of cushion I'd have would make a big difference. Is it weeks per year of service? Are benefits extended? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Trying not to panic, but the silence from leadership is deafening.

Heard through the grapevine (so take it with a HUGE grain of salt) that ServiceNow usually offers around 2 weeks per year of service. Benefits continuation depends on the specific package, but usually they cover COBRA for a few months. Best bet is to update your resume now. Even if nothing happens, it's good practice and you'll feel more in control. Good luck - the uncertainty is the worst part.

Honestly, it's all speculation until it happens. I've seen packages vary wildly based on role, performance, and overall company situation. Don't get hung up on what 'typical' is. Start networking internally and externally NOW. Focus on proving your value in your current role and making yourself indispensable. That's the best way to weather any potential storm. Severance is a reactive measure, proactive job security is better.
