Just saw the WARN notice drop for the Dec 14th cutoff. It’s only 20 people this time across Santa Clara and San Diego, but the timing feels particularly cold with the holidays coming up. For those of us still sitting in our cubes, it’s that same old sinking feeling. Is this the new normal? Just shaving off twenty heads at a time to keep the street happy while the headcount creep continues elsewhere? I’ve been here long enough to remember when 'growth' meant scaling, not just rotating the bottom 5% every quarter. If you're affected, start hitting up your networks now. Don't wait for the exit package paperwork to clear before you start pinging recruiters. This place is becoming a revolving door and I honestly don't know who is left to maintain some of these legacy workflows.

It is honestly exhausting watching the company play this shell game with headcount. They talk about efficiency and strategic alignment, but when you strip away the corporate speak, it is just about protecting the quarterly margins at the expense of people who helped build this place. Twenty people might look like a rounding error on a spreadsheet to the executives in Santa Clara, but it destroys the morale of everyone who has to keep showing up the next day. The 'new normal' is just feeling like you are constantly waiting for the next shoe to drop while leadership pretends everything is fine.

I understand why everyone is frustrated, but let’s be realistic about the environment we are working in right now. Every major tech firm is trimming the fat to keep the investors satisfied, and ServiceNow is no exception. While the timing is definitely rough with the holidays, these incremental cuts have been happening for a while now. It is clearly a strategy to stay lean and keep the stock price propped up. If you are worried about job security, the best thing you can do is keep your skills sharp and keep your resume updated, because loyalty clearly isn't going to save anyone's seat at the table.
