Seeing a lot of 1:1s being cancelled lately - anyone else?

Hey all, been with SF for about 3 years now, working as an engineer on the core platform team. Over the past month or so, I've noticed a significant uptick in my manager and skip-level cancelling 1:1s last minute or rescheduling them multiple times. Usually, it's 'urgent exec meeting' or 'prioritization call'. My colleagues on other teams are reporting similar things. It's making it hard to get feedback on projects and also just generally get face time. Is this just a weird Q4 push, or is anyone else seeing this and connecting it to potential headcount reviews? Starting to feel like the communication channels are drying up and it's a bit unnerving.

Yeah, I've seen some of that too, though maybe not quite as pronounced. It definitely feels like things are getting more intense lately, with a lot of top-down pressure. It's tough when those check-ins get sacrificed. Maybe try to consolidate your feedback into a shared doc or email that your manager can review asynchronously? It's not ideal, but it might be a way to keep the information flowing when face-to-face time is scarce. Hang in there, hopefully, it's just a temporary surge.

This sounds like standard operating procedure when a company hits a certain scale and faces market pressure. The execs are swamped, priorities are shifting daily, and the 1:1s are often the first things to get punted. It's frustrating, I get it. My advice? Focus on clear, concise written updates and be prepared to grab those few minutes with your manager when you can. Sometimes you have to be opportunistic. Don't take it personally; it's a sign of the times.
