Performance review cycle feeling... different

So, the annual performance review cycle is underway at S&P Global, and honestly, it feels more high-stakes than usual this year. There's a lot of talk about "right-sizing" and "efficiency" being thrown around in all-hands meetings, which is never a great sign. My review felt more like an interrogation about my "value contribution" than a discussion about my actual work. Management seems really focused on metrics and outputs, almost to the exclusion of anything else. Anyone else experiencing this? Are people being put on PIPs more readily? Just wondering if this is a company-wide push or if it's just my department getting squeezed. Curious to hear if others are feeling this pressure cooker environment.

I hear you. The buzzwords are definitely louder this year, aren't they? 'Right-sizing' always makes me a bit nervous, and the 'value contribution' angle feels so impersonal. It's like they're looking for quantifiable units of output rather than recognizing the broader impact of our roles. I'm hoping my own review doesn't lean too heavily into just numbers.

Yeah, the emphasis on metrics is intense. It feels like we're all being put under a microscope. I've noticed a shift too, from collaborative goal-setting to a more individualistic, performance-driven approach. It's a tough environment when you feel like your contributions are only valued if they fit neatly into a spreadsheet. Hopefully, it's just a temporary phase.
