12/11 WARN notice: Reality check for those still inside

With the latest WARN notice filings surfacing regarding the 12/11 reductions, I think it’s time to stop drinking the 'operational efficiency' Kool-Aid. If you’re still at Spotify, start updating your resume yesterday. I’ve survived two rounds here, and honestly, the anxiety of not knowing if I’m on a list is worse than actually getting the boot. The 'leaner' structure they keep talking about is just code for 'burnout and broken features.' I’ve noticed the internal tools are getting buggier and the discovery algorithms are taking a hit because the teams managing them were gutted. Use the remaining access you have to pull your work samples and keep your network warm. Don’t wait for them to decide your fate for you. The third round this year should be the signal that no one is truly safe, regardless of how 'integral' you think your team is.

The writing has been on the wall for a while now. I remember when this place actually felt like a tech innovator rather than a corporate assembly line. It’s draining to watch the product quality slide because we're understaffed and stretched thin. If you’re still there, don’t wait for them to decide your future for you. Get your portfolio updated and start networking outside the bubble before the next round of cuts hits even harder. It’s not worth the stress to wait around for the axe.

Finally, someone is speaking the truth. Everyone keeps trying to spin these layoffs as a way to focus the business, but the reality is just a constant state of panic and diminishing morale. I’ve seen so many talented people get pushed out, leaving the remaining few to hold the fort with zero support. The culture here has shifted so dramatically that it’s barely recognizable compared to a few years ago. Take this as your sign to move on; there are plenty of companies out there that value their staff.
