Spotify's recent performance and potential future cuts

Just saw another article referencing Spotify's Q4 earnings and the impact of recent 'streamflation' discussions. While they haven't announced anything specific *this week*, the underlying financial pressures seem to be mounting. They’ve been vocal about profitability goals and restructuring for a while now. I've seen past rounds of layoffs mentioned on here, and the sheer scale of some of those reports (even if not fully confirmed) is concerning. It feels like a company that's still trying to find its footing in a competitive market, and cost-cutting is always on the table. Does anyone have an internal pulse on how things are looking? Are teams being frozen, projects shelved, or is there a sense of calm before any potential storm? I'm not directly affected, but it's a company I follow closely, and the pattern of news suggests continued scrutiny on operational costs. Would appreciate any non-speculative insights if possible.

Anyone else feeling the Spotify jitters?

Hey all, been lurking here for a while, mostly reading about other companies. But with all the talk around Spotify lately, and honestly just the general tech climate, I'm starting to feel a bit uneasy. No official news, but there have been a few rumblings and some articles popping up. I work in a related field, not directly at Spotify, but it's hard not to worry when you see major players making cuts or talking about restructuring. It makes you wonder if anyone is truly safe, or if it's just a matter of time. Has anyone at Spotify or with connections there heard anything concrete? Or is it just general market anxiety bleeding over? Curious to hear if others are feeling this, and what your general outlook is. Trying to stay positive but it's tough when the news cycle is so grim.

Worst case severance - anyone got intel?

Okay, so this is a bit morbid, but hear me out. No official layoffs have been announced (that I know of!), but with the market being what it is and Spotify's recent financial reports, I'm mentally preparing for the worst. I'm in a mid-level product marketing role, been here 6 years. I've seen what happened at other tech companies and the severance packages can vary WILDLY. Does anyone have any insider info or past experience with Spotify's layoff severance? Like, what's a realistic amount of weeks per year of service? Do they include things like continued health benefits, stock vesting acceleration, or outplacement services? Just trying to get a baseline so I'm not completely blindsided if the unthinkable happens. Any info, even anecdotal from previous small cuts, would be super helpful. Trying to stay optimistic but also be prepared.

Anyone else feeling the chill? My team's been quiet.

Hey everyone, been at Spotify for about 4 years now, on the backend engineering side for podcasting tools. Lately, things have felt… off. My manager is being cagey about Q3 roadmaps and there have been a few unscheduled all-hands meetings for my department that didn't really say much. No official word on layoffs, but the vibe is definitely tense. People are whispering, and I've seen a couple of senior engineers polishing their LinkedIn profiles. Just wondering if anyone else is picking up on similar vibes, especially in the tech side of things? Is it just my team, or is there something bigger brewing that hasn't been announced yet? Trying not to spiral, but it's hard when the silence is so loud.

Interview Prep - Recruiter Screen Tips?

Been at Spotify (content licensing) for 3 years, but started passively looking. Just had a recruiter reach out for a role at a competitor. What kind of questions should I expect during the initial recruiter screen? It's been a while since I've interviewed. Any Spotify-specific things they might ask about (project portfolio, recent initiatives, etc.)? Or is it mostly just a culture fit and high-level skills check at this stage? I'm kinda rusty with the whole 'sell yourself' thing. Any advice is appreciated!

Severance Package Details - What to Expect?

Okay, so let's say the worst happens. What's the standard severance package looking like at Spotify these days? I've heard rumors ranging from 2 weeks per year of service to a full month. Does anyone have firsthand experience or know the official policy? What about benefits continuation? Health insurance is a big one for me. Also, is there any negotiation room, or is it a take-it-or-leave-it situation? Trying to prepare myself, just in case. Thanks in advance for any insights!

Anyone else feel like the Sword of Damocles is hanging over us?

I've been at Spotify for almost 5 years now, in the personalization team. I love my job, love the people, but I can't shake this feeling of impending doom. The market is rough, streaming competition is insane, and honestly, the stock price isn't exactly screaming 'stability'. My manager keeps saying everything's fine, but their body language tells a different story. They seem stressed, distracted, and keep cancelling our 1:1s last minute. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but anyone else getting similar vibes? I really can't afford to lose this job right now, mortgage rates are killer.

Just venting: Feeling so burned out

Honestly, I'm so tired of the constant pressure to deliver 'impactful' features. I've been grinding on the personalization team for three years straight, and I feel like I'm running on fumes. The deadlines are insane, the expectations are sky-high, and the recognition is minimal. Every day feels like a sprint, and I'm constantly worried about getting PIP'd if I don't meet some arbitrary metric. I love music and that's why I came here, but it feels so corporate now. The passion's gone and I feel like just another cog in the machine. If layoffs DO happen, I almost wouldn't mind. A break from this madness would be a blessing. But then the reality of finding another job sets in... ugh.

Severance package expectations?

Hypothetically speaking, if Spotify were to do layoffs, what kind of severance package would be considered standard? I'm trying to get a sense of what to expect, especially compared to other tech companies. I've heard rumors of 2 weeks per year of service, but I'm not sure how accurate that is. Does anyone have any firsthand experience with severance at Spotify, or know someone who does? Also, what about benefits continuation and outplacement services? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Knowing what to expect can help with preparing financially and mentally.

Anyone else feel like layoffs are coming?

I've been at Spotify for almost 5 years now, on the Creator Marketplace team. I know the company line is all about growth and innovation, but the vibe lately feels…off. Budgets are getting scrutinized like crazy, travel is being restricted, and there's been a noticeable slowdown in hiring. My manager keeps saying everything's fine, but I've seen this movie before. Anyone else feeling the same way? Maybe it's just paranoia, but I can't shake the feeling that some restructuring is around the corner, and it might involve headcount reductions. I'm starting to update my resume just in case. Maybe I'm overreacting but better safe than sorry, right?
