Anyone else feel like layoffs are coming?

I've been at Spotify for almost 5 years now, on the Creator Marketplace team. I know the company line is all about growth and innovation, but the vibe lately feels…off. Budgets are getting scrutinized like crazy, travel is being restricted, and there's been a noticeable slowdown in hiring. My manager keeps saying everything's fine, but I've seen this movie before. Anyone else feeling the same way? Maybe it's just paranoia, but I can't shake the feeling that some restructuring is around the corner, and it might involve headcount reductions. I'm starting to update my resume just in case. Maybe I'm overreacting but better safe than sorry, right?

Yeah, I'm in a different department (Personalization) but seeing similar things. The constant 'do more with less' mantra is getting old. I remember a big round of layoffs back in '20, and the signs were almost identical - sudden focus on 'efficiency', projects quietly getting shelved, and leadership dodging direct questions. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best, right? Polish up that resume just in case.

Honestly, you might be reading too much into it. Every company goes through cycles of tightening the belt. It's not necessarily a prelude to layoffs. Maybe they just overspent the last quarter and are trying to course-correct. Plus, Creator Marketplace always seemed a little niche to me. Could be they're just re-prioritizing resources. Don't panic until you see actual announcements. Focus on your work and try not to let the rumors get to you.
