Severance package expectations?

Hypothetically speaking, if Spotify were to do layoffs, what kind of severance package would be considered standard? I'm trying to get a sense of what to expect, especially compared to other tech companies. I've heard rumors of 2 weeks per year of service, but I'm not sure how accurate that is. Does anyone have any firsthand experience with severance at Spotify, or know someone who does? Also, what about benefits continuation and outplacement services? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Knowing what to expect can help with preparing financially and mentally.

Two weeks per year of service seems fairly standard, but honestly, it varies wildly. It's going to depend on your level, your role, and how Spotify is doing financially at the time. Benefits continuation is also variable; sometimes they'll cover a few months of your premiums. Outplacement is less common, but definitely something to ask about. Start brushing up your resume and networking now, just in case.

I wouldn't get your hopes up too high based on 'rumors.' Severance packages are usually tied to performance reviews, so keep those positive. Also, consider what's written in your employment contract.
