Totally get it. I've been through similar cycles at other companies. The 'belt tightening' memo is classic corporate speak for 'we're worried'. It's smart to look around, but don't panic yet. Internal transfers are a good first step – shows initiative and keeps you in the game if things do go south. Network like crazy, even if you don't actively apply. Info is power.
Honestly, this is the best company many of us will ever work for. If you are solid, contributing, and not causing drama, you're probably fine. Three years is a decent run, but it's not exactly senior leadership material yet. Maybe focus on crushing your current role and making yourself indispensable, instead of assuming the worst. All companies go through cycles.
