Anyone else feeling the pressure to leave before the next round?

After the recent news about how the layoffs were handled (yes, the duck), I’ve officially started interviewing elsewhere. It’s not just about the technical gaffe; it’s about the lack of respect for the people who were let go. If they can’t even handle a separation notice with basic competence, how are they going to manage the remaining headcount when things get tighter? I’ve noticed a lot of people in my org just completely checking out. We are essentially running on autopilot while the higher-ups talk about 'efficiency' and 'streamlining.' It feels like we are waiting for a hammer to fall that could come any day now. I don't want to be the last one holding the bag when the next round of cuts hits. Anyone else in the same boat? I feel like the 'golden age' of Stripe is officially over and we're just in the maintenance phase until the exit or IPO happens. Just want to know if I'm being paranoid or if the consensus is that things are actually heading south.

I'm in the same boat. Watching the culture shift from 'fast-paced innovation' to 'corporate anxiety' has been brutal. That duck email wasn't just a mistake; it felt like a complete detachment from reality. When leadership stops treating people like humans and starts treating them like tickets in a queue, you know it’s time to update the resume. I’ve already got two final-round interviews lined up, and honestly, the relief of knowing there's a life outside of this pressure cooker is the only thing keeping me sane right now.

It’s wild how quickly the vibe has soured. I joined because I believed in the mission, but the internal instability makes it impossible to focus on actual engineering. If you’re already feeling like you’re on autopilot, your gut is probably right. The writing is on the wall, and the best way to protect yourself is to jump before you're pushed. Don’t wait for another round of 'streamlining' to realize you’re just a number. Start networking now; there are plenty of places that actually value their staff.
