Heard anything about severance packages?

Okay, so I haven't heard anything concrete about layoffs AT ALL, but I'm trying to be prepared. If (god forbid) Stripe were to do layoffs, does anyone know what the typical severance package is? I'm in engineering, been here for almost 5 years. Trying to figure out my runway if the worst happens. Glassdoor is all over the place. Any insights are appreciated, even if it's just 'talk to a lawyer'.

From what I've heard anecdotally (totally unconfirmed, grain of salt!), Stripe's been pretty generous historically, aiming for something like 3 months base pay + an extra week for every year of service. So, based on your 5 years, you might be looking at ~8 months' worth. Don't take that as gospel, though! Depends on a million things. Start building your emergency fund NOW, regardless. Best of luck!

Honestly, focusing on severance *before* layoffs are even announced feels premature. Keep your head down, focus on your work, and make yourself indispensable. All the severance talk in the world won't help if you're not performing. That said, it's always smart to network and quietly update your resume, just in case. Don't panic, just be prepared. Worrying excessively will kill your productivity.
