Profits vs. Layoffs at T-Mobile - Make it make sense

Seriously, I'm baffled by the news of T-Mobile laying off thousands of people again. How can a company that's reportedly making so much money justify cutting so many jobs? I keep seeing articles about record profits, and then BAM, another layoff announcement. It feels completely disconnected from reality for the people working there. Is this just the corporate playbook now? Boost profits by cutting headcount, regardless of the human cost? I'm not even directly affected this time, but it makes me question the long-term stability and the management's priorities. Anyone else feel this disconnect? It’s demoralizing to see such a huge company operate this way. Feels like the Sprint merger fallout is still being felt, and not in a good way for employees. Just venting, I guess.

It's a classic case of shareholder value prioritization, unfortunately. The 'record profits' often translate to increased dividends or stock buybacks, which benefit investors directly. Layoffs are seen as a quick way to cut operating costs and further boost those profit margins, even if it means sacrificing experienced employees and potentially impacting long-term service quality. The disconnect between executive compensation and employee well-being is a recurring theme across many industries, not just telecom.
