500 corporate roles cut today: Is anyone surprised?

Just saw the news officially drop regarding the 500 corporate roles. It’s funny how they frame this as a 'strategic realignment' in the MSN write-ups when we all know it’s just the board trying to pump the numbers before the next quarterly report. I saw at least three friends in my department get the boot this morning. The worst part is the silence—the leadership teams are hiding behind these prepared statements while the rest of us are left to pick up the slack of an entire team that doesn't exist anymore. I've been through a few of these 'restructurings' at different companies, and it never gets easier to see good people get treated like line items on a spreadsheet. I’m honestly looking for the exit now because if this is how they handle 500, I don't want to be around for the next round of 'efficiencies' later this year. To everyone who got the email today: I am sorry. Update your LinkedIn, polish the resume, and don't give this company another second of your stress. They definitely aren't losing sleep over us.
