Is Target's tech/digital division the next target?

Reading about the latest 500 layoffs at Target. This follows the previous significant cuts. My suspicion is that the company is really trimming down the corporate and, potentially, tech/digital arms. They've invested heavily in their app and online presence, but perhaps the ROI isn't where they want it, or they're shifting focus. I've seen some chatter about them trying to streamline operations and maybe consolidate functions. Anyone in the tech or digital spaces at Target feel like they're being eyed? Or is this more of a general cost-cutting measure across the board? Just trying to understand the broader strategy here.

It's definitely a buzz in the industry. Tech layoffs are never good news, but it's a tough market out there for everyone. I can see why they'd scrutinize digital ROI, especially with the cost of maintaining those platforms. Maybe they're re-evaluating their strategy and focusing on core strengths, or perhaps they're looking to partner rather than build everything in-house. Time will tell if this is a strategic shift or just a reaction to the current economic climate.
