Target's workforce reduction: A pattern?

Reading about the latest 500 layoffs at Target on May 29th. This follows the 1,800 cut not too long ago. It's hard not to see a pattern here, especially with how many corporate jobs were involved in the previous round. I'm curious if this is a strategic move to streamline operations or a reaction to market pressures. My friend works in supply chain at Target and they mentioned some reorganizations happening. It makes me wonder if these aren't isolated incidents but part of a larger restructuring. Is anyone else in a similar situation or have insights into the company's direction? Trying to understand if this is a normal business cycle or something more concerning for long-term stability.

It's definitely concerning to see these numbers. The scale of layoffs, especially in corporate roles, does suggest a more significant shift than just minor adjustments. Streamlining operations could be part of it, but you also have to consider the broader economic climate. Retail has been incredibly volatile lately. Hopefully, those affected land on their feet quickly. It's a tough industry right now.
