Layoff emails felt... impersonal, to say the least.

Okay, so I wasn't directly impacted by the last round of layoffs, but a few people on my team were. The way it was handled just felt so cold and impersonal. Getting an email, no warning, no real conversation with your manager beforehand, just a notification that your access is being revoked and you're out. I know companies try to be efficient, but this felt downright disrespectful. We've all put in crazy hours and dedicated ourselves to this place. To be let go like that, with a generic email... it just leaves a terrible taste in your mouth. It's like you were just a number, easily replaceable. I've heard horror stories about other companies, but seeing it up close really hits different. It makes you question your loyalty and the value the company places on its employees. Has anyone else experienced this kind of impersonal layoff process here or elsewhere? How did you cope with it? It's hard to maintain any sense of pride or belonging after something like that.

Yeah, that sounds incredibly rough. It's a tough pill to swallow when you've poured so much effort into a company, only to be on the receiving end of such a cold, automated process. The lack of personal connection or even a heads-up from a direct supervisor really minimizes the human element of a difficult situation. You'd hope for a bit more dignity in how those transitions are managed, especially after significant contributions.
