Layoff survivor guilt is hitting hard.

Got laid off from the [specific team, e.g., Autopilot Hardware Validation] group about two months ago. It was sudden, no warning, just a 15-minute meeting. I've landed on my feet with a new job, thankfully, but I keep thinking about my former colleagues who are still there. Did they make the cut? Are they overloaded now? I feel incredibly guilty, even though I know it wasn't my fault. It's hard to celebrate my new role when I know so many talented people were let go. Anyone else experience this after being part of a layoff wave?

Hey, I totally get where you're coming from. It's a brutal situation, and that survivor guilt is real. I went through something similar a few years back after a big company restructuring. You did everything right by finding a new gig, and you shouldn't beat yourself up for that. Focus on your new role and know that you earned it. Maybe reach out to a few trusted former colleagues individually if you feel you need closure, but don't let it derail your own progress. It's okay to feel conflicted.

Look, it sucks, but that's the corporate world, especially in tech right now. They cut what they need to cut, and it's usually not personal. You got laid off, you found a new job. That's a win. The people still there are either essential or good at playing the game. Stop dwelling on what-ifs. You can't carry their burden. Be happy you're out of that instability. Focus on your new opportunity. What's done is done.
