Anyone else feeling super anxious about potential cuts?

I've been at X for almost 4 years now, in the SRE team. I know the company line is 'everything is fine, onward and upward!' but the vibes are just...off. I keep seeing execs I've never seen before wandering around our floor, and my manager has been MIA a lot more than usual. I know other companies are doing layoffs, and with the recent changes in leadership...it feels like we're next. Anyone else feeling the same? I'm trying to stay positive and focus on my work, but it's hard when the Sword of Damocles is hanging over your head. I'm honestly dusting off my resume just in case. Anyone have any intel from the inside?

Yeah, I totally get that anxious feeling. When new faces start showing up and managers are less available, it's usually not a great sign. Four years is a long time to be somewhere, you've likely built up some valuable skills. Maybe start discreetly updating your resume and looking at what else is out there, just to be prepared? It's always better to be proactive than reactive in these situations. Wishing you the best!

Honestly, this sounds like typical corporate paranoia. Execs wander around all the time, and managers have lives outside of work. Unless you have concrete evidence of impending layoffs, you might be psyching yourself out. Focus on your work and try to ignore the 'vibes.' Stressing about hypotheticals isn't going to help anything. If layoffs *do* happen, you can deal with it then. Until then, chill out a bit.
