X layoff rumors: Are we seeing a pattern?

Okay, so officially, crickets. But unofficially, it feels like the usual signs are there. I've been keeping an eye on layoff trackers and news sites, and while X hasn't made a big splashy announcement, there have been subtle shifts. People are mentioning feeling like their teams are being hollowed out, or certain projects are being deprioritized seemingly overnight. Combine that with the news about the age discrimination lawsuit progressing, and it paints a picture. It's easy to dismiss rumors, but when you see multiple people hinting at similar experiences, it makes you wonder. Is this just the Musk effect playing out, or are there deeper issues at play? Curious to hear from others who might be seeing or experiencing similar things within X. Trying to understand the scale and scope, if anything is indeed happening beyond the usual churn.

Anyone else feeling the X-Files at Twitter lately?

Been seeing a lot of noise, both here and elsewhere, about potential cuts at X. Nothing official, of course, but the whispers are getting louder. Some of it is tied to that age discrimination lawsuit gaining traction, which is concerning on its own. But I've also heard rumblings about restructuring, reorgs, and general 'efficiency improvements' that usually have a not-so-great outcome for headcount. Feels like a lot of people are on edge, refreshing their internal emails and looking over their shoulders. Anyone in the trenches hearing anything concrete, or is it just the usual pre-holiday jitters amplified by the current climate? Trying to gauge if this is widespread anxiety or if there's actually something brewing. Just want to be prepared, you know? This place has been through a lot, but the uncertainty is definitely a vibe right now.

Navigating the job market post-X - strategies anyone?

So, I was on the content moderation side, put in about 3 years. While I haven't been 'officially' laid off yet, the writing has been on the wall for a while with team restructuring and budget cuts. I've been quietly updating my resume and dipping my toes into the job market, and man, it's tough out there. Feels like every company is cautious. Has anyone else been through this recently, either here or at other tech giants that went through similar shakeups? What's working for you in terms of networking, tailoring resumes for specific roles, or even just maintaining sanity during the interview process? I'm targeting roles in trust & safety but open to adjacent fields. Any tips or war stories would be appreciated. Feels like I'm starting from scratch.

Is this the calm before the storm? Things feel SO quiet...

Been here about 4 years, worked on the ads infrastructure team. Lately, it's just... weirdly quiet. Usually, there's a constant hum of activity, updates, meetings, even with the recent changes. Now? My inbox is practically empty, calendars are cleared, and my manager has been cagey about future projects. We had that big all-hands last week, and it felt like they were walking on eggshells. No real substance, just vague platitudes about 'navigating the new landscape.' It's making me incredibly uneasy. Anyone else on other teams feeling this vibe? Like everyone's just waiting for the other shoe to drop but no one wants to say it out loud? It's worse than the rumors sometimes, this eerie silence.

Seriously?! Just got laid off. Wtf am I supposed to do now?

Well, it finally happened. Just got the email, then the calendar invite from HR. Less than an hour later, I'm locked out of everything. Three freaking years down the drain. I was a senior engineer on the infrastructure team. I poured my heart and soul into this place, especially dealing with the garbage code after the acquisition. And for what? A pat on the back and a severance package that won't last me more than a few months in the bay area. The job market is flooded right now! Anyone have any insider tips on which companies are actually hiring and not just posturing? Or any tips on getting my resume past the automated filters when applying? I'm panicking, I need a plan and quick!

Severance Package Question - Equity Vesting

Okay, so hypothetically, if there WERE layoffs coming (knocking on wood!), does anyone know what the deal is with equity vesting? I'm not fully vested yet, and it's a significant chunk of my comp. I've heard rumors about accelerated vesting in some cases, but only for senior folks. Does anyone have experience with this, either at X or other companies? Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to prepare myself, just in case. I have heard different things, and I am unsure what to believe.

Heard Whispers... Anyone Else Feeling Uneasy?

I've been at X for almost 4 years now, on the product marketing team. Lately, the mood has been...off. My skip-level has been in back-to-back meetings, which isn't totally unusual, but it feels different this time. There are fewer company-wide emails, and the usual Friday all-hands felt rushed and weird. I know the economy is still shaky, and honestly, with the way things have been going since the takeover, it wouldn't totally shock me if cuts were coming. Anyone else picking up on weird vibes? Or am I just being paranoid? I need to know I am not the only one thinking this.

Rant: Seriously?! Performance review PIP before potential layoffs?

So, I've been hearing the layoff rumors like everyone else. Stressful, right? But THEN, yesterday, my manager drops a bomb on me during my performance review. Apparently, I'm 'not meeting expectations' and they're putting me on a PIP. Seriously?! Now I'm not only worried about getting laid off, but I'm also dealing with this BS performance improvement plan. It feels like they're trying to build a case to fire me without severance. Like, come on, give me a break! Anyone else experiencing anything similar? This whole situation is just messed up. I'm so stressed I can barely sleep.

Just got laid off - AMA

Well, it finally happened. Got the call this morning. They said it was a 'restructuring' and my role was 'redundant'. I was a Senior Software Engineer on the monetization team, been here for 2.5 years. Honestly, I'm not totally shocked, but it still sucks. Standard severance package - 2 months pay plus COBRA. They gave me a week to clear out my stuff. I'm pretty bummed, but trying to stay positive. I guess this is my chance to finally take that coding bootcamp I've been eyeing. Ask me anything about the process or my experience. Maybe I can help someone else prepare.

Anyone else feeling super anxious about potential cuts?

I've been at X for almost 4 years now, in the SRE team. I know the company line is 'everything is fine, onward and upward!' but the vibes are just...off. I keep seeing execs I've never seen before wandering around our floor, and my manager has been MIA a lot more than usual. I know other companies are doing layoffs, and with the recent changes in leadership...it feels like we're next. Anyone else feeling the same? I'm trying to stay positive and focus on my work, but it's hard when the Sword of Damocles is hanging over your head. I'm honestly dusting off my resume just in case. Anyone have any intel from the inside?
