Potential age bias in recent role eliminations?

So, I saw that article about the class-action lawsuit regarding age discrimination at X. It got me thinking. Has anyone else noticed a trend in who seems to be exiting or having their roles 're-evaluated' lately? Without pointing fingers or naming names, I've personally observed a few longer-tenured folks being impacted. It could be coincidence, sure, but combined with the lawsuit, it's hard to ignore. Is this just the cost of doing business in tech right now, or is there something more deliberate happening? Just curious to hear if others are seeing similar patterns in their immediate vicinity. Trying to understand the landscape.

That lawsuit definitely raises some eyebrows. It's easy for companies to say these things are performance-based or restructuring, but when patterns emerge, especially involving older employees who have invested years, it's natural to question the motives. The tech industry is notorious for its focus on youth, so unfortunately, I wouldn't be surprised if there's some truth to the allegations. It’s a tough situation for those affected.

Interesting point. I've also felt like there's been a bit of a shift in the demographics of who's still around and who isn't, but chalked it up to the general upheaval X has been undergoing. The lawsuit does add a layer of concern, though. It’s a delicate balance between necessary business changes and potential discriminatory practices. Hopefully, any investigation will bring clarity to the situation for everyone involved.
