Small round of cuts in Texas office – anyone else seeing this?

Just saw the WARN notice hit for 15 people in the Stephenville location effective late December. It feels like this place is being dismantled piece by piece rather than the usual 'big bang' layoffs we saw back in 2022. I know it’s a small number compared to the thousands gone previously, but it’s still unsettling to see them popping up in the filings every few months. Is there anyone actually based in the Texas offices anymore, or are we just down to a skeleton crew of infrastructure engineers and policy folks? I’m genuinely curious what the headcount looks like at this point. It feels like every time I open the dashboard, there’s another small group getting their access revoked. Stay safe out there if you're still on the inside.

It is definitely unsettling to see this happen in dribs and drabs rather than one clean sweep. The strategy seems to be a slow-motion liquidation, just trimming the fat until there is absolutely nothing left but a shell. At this rate, the Texas office will be an empty building by the time the next quarter rolls around. I wonder if they are even trying to maintain any real presence there or if this is just a way to avoid the massive headlines that follow a traditional mass layoff.

Honestly, it feels like we are watching the slow decay of what used to be a major hub. The drip-feed of WARN notices is probably a tactical move to keep the noise down while they downsize the remaining footprint. I wouldn’t expect there to be much left of the Texas team in the coming months; they’ve clearly pivoted to keeping only the most essential infrastructure engineers to keep the servers running. It is a bleak way to wind down an entire region's operations.
