Well, it finally happened. Got the call this morning. They said it was a 'restructuring' and my role was 'redundant'. I was a Senior Software Engineer on the monetization team, been here for 2.5 years. Honestly, I'm not totally shocked, but it still sucks. Standard severance package - 2 months pay plus COBRA. They gave me a week to clear out my stuff. I'm pretty bummed, but trying to stay positive. I guess this is my chance to finally take that coding bootcamp I've been eyeing. Ask me anything about the process or my experience. Maybe I can help someone else prepare.

Sorry to hear that. Layoffs always sting, even when you see them coming. That severance is decent, though. Use the time to really research that bootcamp and see if it's the right fit. Networking is key, so start reaching out to your contacts now. Don't be afraid to ask for informational interviews – most people are happy to help a former colleague or someone looking to pivot.

2 months severance for 2.5 years? Seems low, even for Twitter. I'd have a lawyer review that paperwork just to make sure they aren't trying to pull anything. They have deep pockets, so don't be afraid to push back if something looks unfair. Also, don't rush into any decisions about coding bootcamps. Explore all your options first, and see if your skills are more directly transferable than you think.
