Anyone else hearing whispers in the Tech Infra group?

I'm in the Tech Infrastructure group, been with Verizon for almost 8 years now. Lately, the atmosphere has been really tense. My manager has been acting strange, super vague in meetings, and I overheard some higher-ups talking about 'restructuring' near the coffee machine. It's the same kind of talk we heard before the 2018 cuts, and my anxiety is through the roof. Anyone else experiencing this in their department? I'm trying to gauge if this is just my team or something bigger brewing across the company. Feeling really uneasy right now. Considering updating my resume, tbh.

I'm not in Tech Infra, but in Network Engineering. I've noticed a similar vibe. Lots of closed-door meetings and hushed tones. We're being told to 'optimize workflows' which usually translates to doing more with less. I wouldn't be surprised if this is company-wide. Start updating your resume and brush up on your LinkedIn profile just in case. It's better to be prepared than caught off guard. Hope for the best, but plan for the worst, right?

Honestly, this kind of thing is almost constant at Verizon. I wouldn't read too much into a few vague conversations. Remember when they were 'restructuring' to become a media company? How'd that work out? Focus on your work, document your accomplishments, and try not to let the rumors stress you out too much. If something happens, it happens. Worrying about it won't change anything, except maybe give you an ulcer.
