Basking Ridge cuts again – are we just waiting for the next round?

Just saw the latest WARN notice for Basking Ridge. Another 50 people gone right before the new year. It’s becoming a grim annual tradition here. I know 50 sounds like a 'small' reduction in the grand scheme of a company this size, but it really kills the morale when you’re sitting at your desk wondering if your department is next on the chopping block. Leadership keeps talking about 'streamlining' and 'focusing on core growth,' but it just feels like death by a thousand cuts. I’ve been here for over six years, and the constant cycle of restructuring makes it impossible to plan for anything long-term. My manager keeps telling us it's just 'optimization,' but the vibe in the office is completely dead. We're all just looking at the calendar and checking the WARN database every few days now. If you're currently in the Basking Ridge office, keep your resume updated—seriously. It’s not a matter of 'if' anymore, it’s just a matter of 'when' the axe drops on your specific team.

It is exhausting to watch the cycle repeat year after year. Every time a new notice drops, the office atmosphere shifts and productivity tanks because nobody feels secure in their seat. They call it 'streamlining' or 'efficiency,' but it feels like they are just trimming the headcount to make the quarterly numbers look better for investors. It is hard to stay motivated when you see long-term talent constantly being shown the door right before the holidays. At this point, the 'core growth' strategy feels like it is coming at the expense of everyone actually doing the work.

I have stopped paying attention to the internal memos about growth because they never match the reality on the ground. When you see your friends and colleagues let go in these waves, the corporate jargon about 'agility' starts to sound like a sick joke. I think a lot of us are just waiting to see if we make it through the next fiscal quarter. The company culture is completely hollowed out at this stage, and it seems like leadership expects us to just keep grinding as if we aren't all looking for our exit strategies.
