Is this the new normal for Verizon?

Another round of layoffs, this time hitting Washington pretty hard. 54 people gone July 17th. It's becoming a regular occurrence, isn't it? What's the strategy here? Are they just trimming fat everywhere, or is there a bigger picture we're missing? I've seen some articles mentioning retraining programs for other employees, which is great and all, but then you see these numbers and it feels like two steps forward, one giant leap back. Makes you wonder about job security long-term, even if you're not directly impacted right now. Are departments being consolidated? Are certain roles being phased out? Just trying to understand the direction the company is taking. Feels less like a stable career and more like navigating a minefield sometimes.

It's definitely concerning to see these recurring layoffs. It feels like a constant churn, and it's understandable why people are worried about job security. While the company might present it as streamlining operations or adapting to market changes, the human cost is significant. It's hard not to question if there's a sustainable long-term plan that prioritizes the workforce, or if this is just a continuous cycle of cost-cutting that leaves employees feeling unstable.

The constant news of layoffs at Verizon is really unsettling. You hear about restructuring and efficiency drives, but it's tough to reconcile that with so many people losing their jobs. It makes you wonder what the ultimate goal is. Is it truly about innovation and future growth, or is it a more aggressive push towards automation and a leaner operation, regardless of the impact on experienced staff? The disconnect between the official narrative and the reality on the ground is pretty stark.
