Considering an internal transfer - anyone have success stories?

I've been in my current role as a Senior Product Manager in the digital solutions group for almost 5 years. While I've learned a lot, the team dynamics have become pretty stagnant, and honestly, the recent project funding cuts have me worried about future growth opportunities here. I'm looking at some open roles in the risk management division, which seems to be a growing area for Visa. Does anyone have experience moving internally to a different division? How was the interview process? Was it as intense as external interviews? Any tips on how to position myself or what to focus on? Just want to make sure I'm setting myself up for success if I decide to make the jump.

Hey, I made an internal move within Visa a couple of years ago, though not to risk management. The interview process was definitely thorough, similar to an external hire but with a bit more internal context. My hiring manager knew my work ethic from my previous team, which helped. My advice? Network with people in the risk division beforehand to get a feel for the culture and the challenges they're facing. Tailor your resume and interview answers to highlight transferable skills relevant to risk. Good luck!

I haven't personally transferred, but I've seen a few colleagues do it. It seems pretty common at Visa, especially if you're looking at a growing area like risk. The key is showing you've done your homework on the new division and understand their needs. Don't just rely on your current experience; research the specific challenges risk management faces at Visa. Some people find it easier than external interviews because HR already has your performance records, but others say it's just as tough. Be prepared for tough questions!
