Feeling uneasy after the recent wave—who else is polishing the resume?

It’s been a rough few days since the news hit. Even if you survived the August 10th wave, the vibe in the scrum meetings is just depressing. You look around the Zoom call and realize half the names you’re used to seeing are gone, and the remaining ones are just staring at the screen in silence. I’m starting to see people update their LinkedIn headers to 'Open to Work' in real-time. It’s hard to stay focused on sprint deliverables when you don't know if your department is the next one on the chopping block. I’ve started reaching out to friends at other firms, but the market is flooded with ex-Visa talent right now, which makes the hunt feel even more hopeless. Is anyone actually feeling confident about their role here, or are we all just waiting for the other shoe to drop? I honestly feel like I’m just waiting for my turn at this point.

I’m right there with you. The silence in those meetings is deafening, and it’s impossible to ignore the empty slots on the team roster. It feels like we are all just waiting for the next calendar invite to drop. I’ve already started quietly brushing up my portfolio and pinging old contacts. At this point, it is not just about the deliverables anymore; it is about protecting your own stability before the next round of cuts hits. Keep your head down, but keep those options open.

Honestly, the best thing you can do is disconnect emotionally from the project for a bit and focus entirely on your exit strategy. Visa has been shifting gears for a while, and the uncertainty is exhausting. Don't feel guilty about prioritizing your LinkedIn updates or prepping for interviews during the downtime. You owe it to yourself to be ready for whatever happens next. It’s a brutal environment right now, so just focus on what you can control—your next move.
