Is the August 10th round the end of it or just the beginning?

Woke up to the HR Executive piece confirming the cuts went through on the 10th. It feels like the air has been completely sucked out of the office. I’ve been here for four years and I’ve never seen the Slack channels this quiet. Management keeps talking about 'restructuring for efficiency,' but we all know that’s just code for padding the margins before the fiscal year ends. The real kicker is watching the H-1B holders scramble. I know two senior engineers who were let go today and now they have that ticking clock hanging over their heads. Does anyone actually think we’re done, or are they just slicing us up in waves to avoid a massive WARN notice filing all at once? I’m exhausted from checking my email every ten minutes waiting for a calendar invite from a recruiter I’ve never spoken to. If you’re still here, stay safe and update your docs tonight. This place isn't what it used to be.

The August 10th round is definitely just the beginning. I’ve been through enough corporate 'restructurings' to recognize the pattern. They do it in waves to keep the remaining staff off-balance and prevent any unified pushback. If they were done, they would have issued a company-wide statement clarifying the future of the roadmap instead of leaving everyone in this limbo. Expect more roles to be eliminated by the end of the quarter as they chase those year-end targets.

Honestly, it feels like the culture here has fundamentally shifted overnight. I’ve seen the same thing happen at other firms; they strip the team down to the bare minimum to make the balance sheet look pristine for investors. It’s brutal to watch talented people get discarded like this, especially those on visas who are now on a ticking clock. Don't buy into the efficiency narrative—keep your resume updated and start networking outside the company immediately, because this is likely only the first of several cuts.
