Rant: Seriously regretting joining Visa right now

I joined Visa about 6 months ago, lured in by the brand name and the promises of 'growth opportunities.' What a joke! I'm stuck on a dead-end project, my manager is never available, and the bureaucracy here is insane. Every little thing requires a million approvals. To top it all off, I'm constantly hearing whispers about potential layoffs. Honestly, if I hadn't just moved across the country for this job, I'd be out of here already. I feel like I made a huge mistake. Anyone else feeling similarly?

I hear you. Big companies can be a real mixed bag. The 'growth opportunities' line is classic corporate speak. Bureaucracy is definitely a killer. Since you're stuck for now, maybe try networking outside your immediate team? Find some mentors in other departments. It might open some doors or at least give you a better perspective. As for the layoffs, that's always a worry, but don't let it paralyze you. Keep your skills sharp and your resume updated, just in case.

Six months is barely enough time to get your feet wet anywhere, especially a behemoth like Visa. Layoffs are common in big tech. Honestly, your experience sounds pretty typical for a large corporation. I suggest giving it a year, actively seeking out different roles internally, and building relationships. If things still suck after that, then yeah, maybe jump ship. Just don't panic after only half a year; you might be missing out.
