Is anyone else feeling super uneasy about Q3?

I've been at Wayfair for 6 years, in the merchandising team, and I've seen ups and downs. But something feels really different this time. The higher-ups are being super vague in meetings, and there's been a freeze on all non-essential travel. Plus, my manager, who is usually chatty, is suddenly very quiet. I know the economy is shaky, but Wayfair always seemed pretty resilient. Are other people getting a bad vibe, or am I just being paranoid? I remember back in 2020 the writing was on the wall but I was too blind to see it, until it was too late. Trying to avoid a repeat of that!

You're not alone. I'm in engineering, and we're seeing projects quietly shelved or delayed indefinitely. It's definitely spooking the team, especially since leadership keeps saying everything is 'fine' while simultaneously cutting budgets. Remember the last 'everything is fine' situation? That was NOT fine. Start polishing that resume, just in case. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

Honestly, a travel freeze and quiet managers? Sounds like standard corporate belt-tightening to me. Wayfair had a *massive* hiring spree the past few years. Maybe they're just trying to get their financials back in order after some over-ambitious growth. I wouldn't jump to conclusions about a major downturn just yet. Keep an eye on the stock price and internal job postings for real warning signs.
