That 'work longer hours' email really landed wrong...

Still kind of reeling from that email last year about working longer hours. It came right before the holidays and felt so tone-deaf, especially when we're all dealing with economic uncertainty. Now seeing reports about Wayfair laying off a significant chunk of its workforce, and it's hard not to connect the dots. Was that email a precursor? Did they really expect us to put in more effort just before potentially getting cut? It feels like a massive misstep in how they handled things, if these reports are accurate. Has anyone else felt blindsided or undervalued by that communication? Makes you question the company's priorities and how they treat their employees, especially when they're looking to 'trim costs'.

Completely agree. That holiday 'work longer' message felt like a slap in the face, especially with the whispers of economic trouble. It's galling to think they might have been planning layoffs all along. It shows a real disconnect between leadership and the everyday reality of employees who are trying their best to stay afloat. Major lack of foresight and empathy on their part.
