The 'work longer hours' email really set the tone

Does anyone actually feel motivated after that year-end note from the top? Asking for more hours and 'harder' work while cutting hundreds of people is such a massive disconnect. It feels like they’re trying to squeeze the remaining staff for everything we’ve got before the next round of cuts. I’ve seen a few folks on the team start quiet quitting because, honestly, what is the point? You work 60 hours a week, you build out these complex features or strategies, and then three months later, the whole department is either restructured or gutted. I’m starting to look at external roles, but even LinkedIn looks like a graveyard of tech workers right now. Is anyone actually seeing meaningful movement elsewhere, or are we all just trapped in this 'do more with less' cycle until we burn out? I’m genuinely curious how people are coping mentally without losing it. Are we staying for the RSU vesting or just waiting for the inevitable severance package?

That email was honestly tone-deaf. It’s hard to stay invested when the leadership talks about 'working harder' while dangling the threat of more layoffs over our heads. It’s a classic burnout strategy—push the remaining team until they quit, and then blame them for not being dedicated enough. I’m definitely not going above and beyond anymore when the job security is basically non-existent. We’re all just waiting for the next round of cuts at this point.

I stopped caring about those motivational pitches a long time ago. When you see your friends and colleagues pushed out the door, the company-wide emails start to sound more like threats than calls to action. Putting in 60 hours a week for a company that views us as an expense to be trimmed just isn't sustainable. At this stage, I’m putting in my hours and looking for the exit. There’s no point in burning myself out for a place that wouldn't think twice about cutting me tomorrow.
