I went through a layoff at Wells Fargo a few years back (different department, though). The severance was pretty standard – two weeks of pay for every year of service, plus they paid for COBRA for a few months. Unvested stock options were gone. They did offer some outplacement services, resume workshops and stuff, but honestly, I didn't find them super helpful. Start networking now, before anything official happens. It's always better to be proactive. Good luck!
Don't get too worked up over rumors. In my experience, these whispers are often just that – whispers. Departments restructure all the time. That being said, it's always smart to be prepared. If you're really worried, discreetly update your resume and start casually looking at job postings. That way, if the worst *does* happen, you won't be starting from scratch. Also, read your employee handbook carefully. It should outline the company's severance policies, even if they are subject to change.
