Anyone hearing rumors about Q3 headcount reductions?

I’ve been seeing a lot of chatter lately about another round of cuts happening before the end of the year. My manager has been acting super weird—very vague whenever I ask about project roadmaps beyond October. It feels like the same pattern we saw last time: first comes the 'hiring pause' (that isn't really a pause for certain departments), then the mandatory 'restructuring' of roles, and then the inevitable inbox notification on a Thursday morning. I’ve noticed a lot of senior folks who have been here for a long time are suddenly updating their LinkedIn status to 'open to work' or just going completely quiet. It’s honestly unsettling. I’m trying to keep my head down and just stack as much cash as I can, but it’s hard to care about sprint goals when you feel like a placeholder. Has anyone heard anything concrete or is this just the typical end-of-year anxiety? Any advice on severance packages if things go south again would be helpful. Trying to prepare for the worst without spiraling.

The pattern is unmistakable at this point. I’ve noticed the same behavior in my department—managers suddenly clamming up about long-term projects and shifting focus to 'short-term efficiency' initiatives. It’s the classic playbook. Even if they don't call it a layoff, the signs are all there: the quiet reorganizations, the sudden budget freezes, and the senior leadership vanishing from public Slack channels. Keep your resume polished and start backing up any personal files you might need. If it feels like the last time, it’s usually because the script hasn't changed at all. Don't wait for the calendar invite to figure it out.
