Rant: Seriously regretting joining this company

I'm so burnt out. I joined Workday about a year and a half ago, lured in by the 'great culture' and 'work-life balance'. What a joke. I'm constantly working late, the projects are a mess, and my manager is completely checked out. The documentation is terrible, the code is legacy garbage, and nobody seems to care about quality. I feel like I'm just pushing out features to meet arbitrary deadlines. Honestly, I should have stayed at my old job. At least the pay was better. I'm actively looking for a new role, and I cannot wait to get out of here. If you're thinking of joining, think twice. The grass is definitely NOT greener.

I hear you. A year and a half is more than enough time to realize a place isn't a fit. The 'grass is always greener' is often a lie, but your experience sounds genuinely awful. Legacy code, lack of documentation, and a checked-out manager is a recipe for burnout. Don't let it drag on. Start prioritizing your mental health and focus on finding something better. You've identified the problems – use that to guide your job search.

Take everything with a grain of salt. I've been at Workday for 5+ years and, while it's not perfect, my experience is definitely not as negative as yours. Project quality varies wildly depending on the team and product. Some teams are fantastic, others... not so much. Have you tried talking to your manager or looking internally for a different team? It might be worth exploring before jumping ship completely. Sometimes a change of scenery within the company can make all the difference.
