Anyone getting scouted for roles post-layoffs elsewhere?

It's wild how many recruiters are reaching out lately, even though Zillow hasn't had a *major* public layoff event like some other tech companies. I'm not in one of the teams rumored to be cut, but the atmosphere is still tense. I've had a few recruiters from other proptech/REI companies reach out with seemingly solid opportunities. One in particular seemed really interested in my experience with large-scale data pipelines here. Is anyone else getting these calls? Are these companies actively poaching from Zillow, or is it just the usual market churn? Wondering if now's the time to actually entertain those offers or if it's better to wait and see what happens here.

Yeah, I've noticed a similar uptick in recruiter activity myself, though I'm not at Zillow. It feels like the whole industry is in a bit of a flux, and companies that might have been hesitant before are now actively looking to snatch up talent from places where there's perceived instability, even if your specific team isn't on the chopping block. It's smart to entertain those conversations; you never know what might come up, and having options is always a good thing in this market. Don't feel guilty about exploring, either. Companies are always looking out for their best interests.

It's interesting you're seeing that. I'm at Zillow too, and while I haven't had a flood of external recruiters, I have heard whispers internally about certain departments being 'restructured.' It's definitely created a weird vibe. The fact that others are reaching out, especially with specific interest in your skills, suggests they're targeting what they see as valuable expertise that might be available due to the broader market shifts. Take those calls seriously. Even if nothing pans out, it's good market research and keeps your network warm. Just be discreet about it.
