Zillow Layoffs - Another One Bites the Dust

Yet another layoff announcement from Zillow, this time around 500 employees. That's a significant number. It's getting hard to keep track of how many rounds this has been. The last major one I remember was around 300. This feels like a constant state of flux for them. I work in a related field and we're always keeping an eye on Zillow's moves, given their market position. The narrative always seems to come back to iBuying losses or 'strategic realignment,' but it feels like a more fundamental problem with their business model or execution. Are they struggling to innovate beyond the core marketplace? Or is it just the cyclical nature of real estate? Anyone else seeing this pattern in other large tech companies, or is Zillow uniquely volatile right now?

This is pretty concerning. A company of Zillow's size going through multiple rounds of layoffs like this raises serious questions about their long-term strategy and financial health. The iBuying aspect was always a bit of a gamble, and it seems like that gamble didn't pay off as planned. Wondering what the next phase for them looks like.

It's always tough to see so many people lose their jobs, regardless of the company. Zillow's market dominance has been undeniable for a while, so these layoffs are definitely a sign of significant internal shifts. It makes you wonder if the core business model is facing more pressure than we realize from the outside.
