Zillow's pivot - implications for employees?

So, the news about Zillow's move away from iBuying has been out for a while, but I'm still trying to wrap my head around what it means for us on the ground. They're talking about a 'pivot,' but that often translates to restructuring, and let's be honest, sometimes that means headcount reductions. I'm in a role that was somewhat tied to the iBuying operations, and while my direct manager hasn't said anything specific, the uncertainty is palpable. People are talking in hushed tones, and there's definitely an undercurrent of anxiety. I'm trying to stay positive and focus on the new direction, but it's hard not to think about the worst-case scenario. Has anyone else in a similar boat heard anything concrete about how this shift will impact different teams or roles? Are there internal communications I should be looking for? Just trying to prepare myself mentally and professionally for whatever might come next. Would love to hear if anyone has more direct information or even just shared anxieties.

Totally understand the anxiety. It's a tough spot to be in when you're unsure about your role's future, especially when it's linked to a major business shift. Hopefully, they'll be transparent about the 'pivot' and what it truly means for different departments soon. Keep an eye on official communications, and maybe try to get some clarity from your manager if you can. Wishing you the best through this uncertain time.

Yeah, that 'pivot' buzzword can be a little unsettling. It's natural to worry about job security when a company makes such a significant change in direction. The silence from management often amplifies those worries. I'd suggest keeping your resume updated and networking within the company if possible. Sometimes these shifts open up unexpected opportunities in other areas, but it's always good to be prepared either way.
