Anyone else feel like the constant re-orgs are a prelude to layoffs?

Seriously, it feels like every six months they're shuffling teams around. I'm in product, and we just got merged into a completely different department. My manager is acting weird, super non-committal. I've been through this before at another company, and it always ends the same way: 'restructuring' which is code for layoffs. Anyone else feeling the same anxiety? I'm starting to dust off my resume, just in case. I’ve been here for 3 years and honestly love the work…but this instability is killing me.

I totally get where you're coming from. I'm in engineering and we had a similar thing happen last year. The silence from management is the worst part. Honestly, updating your resume is a smart move, even if it's just to feel more in control. I wouldn't panic yet, but definitely be prepared. Start networking internally and externally, see what's out there. Knowledge is power!

I'm going to be honest, I think you might be jumping the gun. Re-orgs happen, especially in tech. It's annoying, disruptive, and can definitely feel unsettling, but it doesn't automatically mean layoffs are imminent. Maybe they're trying to improve efficiency or explore new markets. I'd wait and see how the dust settles before hitting the panic button. Three years is a good chunk of time, they probably value your experience.
