I've definitely seen something similar here. It's not a formal layoff, but a noticeable increase in performance improvement plans that seem designed to push people out. The lack of transparency is the worst part, leaving everyone else feeling insecure and wondering if they're next. It creates a really negative atmosphere.
This is a concerning trend across many companies, not just in tech. It feels like a more insidious way to handle workforce adjustments. Instead of clear communication about business needs and potential cuts, it leaves employees in a state of anxiety and uncertainty, constantly second-guessing their own performance and job security. It's not a healthy way to manage a team.
