Is it just me, or is morale hitting an all-time low?

Seriously, the last few months have been rough. I know tech has been volatile, but at Zoom, it feels different. People are checking out, the energy in meetings is gone, and you can just *feel* the anxiety. There's a ton of talk about 'efficiency' and 'streamlining' that sounds like corporate speak for 'prepare for bad news.' I've seen people I respect quietly polish their resumes. I'm not hearing about specific layoff numbers or dates, but the general feeling is that something is coming. Just wanted to see if others are feeling this pervasive sense of dread and uncertainty. It's hard to stay motivated when you're constantly looking over your shoulder.

I've been feeling it too. It's not just the 'efficiency' talk, which is definitely unsettling, but also the palpable shift in how people interact. Those spontaneous water cooler chats that used to happen virtually are non-existent now. Everyone seems so guarded and focused on their immediate tasks, almost like they're afraid to be noticed. It makes collaborating feel transactional and hollow. I hope leadership is aware of how this is impacting the team's spirit.

I agree, the atmosphere has changed dramatically. The 'streamlining' language is a huge red flag, especially given the current economic climate.
