Okay, so I work in the San Jose office, and I just saw like five people being walked out by security. Didn't look like a fire drill or anything. They were carrying boxes, and looked pretty upset. All from the same floor. Anyone know what's going on? HR is radio silent. I'm in Engineering, and this is making me super anxious. I’ve got a mortgage to pay. Is it time to jump ship before the axe falls on me too?

That sounds rough, especially with HR not saying anything. San Jose is layoff central these days, unfortunately. The box thing is never a good sign. Start updating your resume now, just in case. It's always better to be prepared than caught off guard. Even if it's nothing, having your materials ready will ease your anxiety a bit.

Seriously? 'Walked out?' Sounds dramatic. Could be performance issues, could be they violated company policy. Jumping straight to layoff panic is a bit much, don't you think? Maybe wait for some actual confirmation before you start freaking out and spreading rumors that will worry everyone unnecessarily.
