Feeling the pressure to cut costs in Engineering

The atmosphere in the office is honestly exhausting lately. It feels like every week there’s another mandate about trimming the budget or reducing travel expenses, and it’s filtering down into our daily operations. We’re being asked to do more with significantly less oversight on the tools we actually need to get the job done. I’ve noticed a lot of 'restructuring' talk in the Slack channels, and the consultants are hovering around the leadership suites again. It’s the same pattern as before—everyone says 'it’s just business as usual,' but the internal messaging is becoming increasingly clinical and detached. I don't see any formal announcements yet, but the way they are re-organizing reporting lines in the product development groups makes me feel like they're preparing for a significant reduction. I'm burnt out from the guessing game and just want to know if I need to look for an exit before the ship starts sinking, because it feels like a matter of time before the ax drops. Anyone else in the regional offices feeling the same tension?

Anyone else getting weird vibes after the last town hall?

Is it just me, or did the tone shift significantly in the last quarterly call? I’ve been with Lear for over six years, and I’ve seen the cycles, but the constant emphasis on 'operational efficiency' and 'realigning our footprint' feels different this time. They keep talking about streamlining engineering workflows, but no one is actually explaining what that means for our headcount. My manager has been tight-lipped, which usually isn't their style. There’s a lot of chatter on the floor about us maybe losing some of the JIT programs or consolidation in the regional plants. I’m just trying to figure out if I should start polishing the resume now or if I’m just being paranoid because the industry is cooling off. Has anyone heard anything specific from leadership or seen unusual activity in the internal project logs? Just trying to gauge if I should be worried or if this is just standard corporate speak.
