Feeling the pressure to do more with less
It’s getting unsustainable. I feel like I’m doing the work of two and a half people since the last round of departures, and the expectation is that we just keep hitting the same KPIs. Management keeps pushing these efficiency initiatives, but all it really means is that we spend half our day documenting why we haven't finished our actual work yet. The morale in my department is hitting rock bottom. We all know that the 'economic downturn' excuse is the go-to script for when they want to balance the sheets, but it feels like the human element is completely absent from the strategy. I’m exhausted, I’m burnt out, and I’m constantly looking over my shoulder wondering if I’m next on the chopping block despite being a top performer. If another 'efficiency' email hits my inbox, I think I’m going to lose it. Anyone else feeling like they’re just waiting for the other shoe to drop?
Anyone else hearing whispers about Q3 headcounts?
Is it just me, or does the vibe in the office feel off lately? I’ve been seeing more vague 'strategic alignment' meetings popping up on everyone’s calendars, and the leadership town halls have been pretty light on substance regarding growth. I know we had that rough patch a while back with the 475 cuts, and honestly, the anxiety never really left the building. I’m in the banking side and we’ve been told to watch our discretionary spending like a hawk. It feels like they are tightening the screws again without actually saying the word 'layoff.' Has anyone in claims or IT heard anything concrete, or are we just reading too much into the silence? I’m trying to decide if I should start brushing off the resume or if this is just standard corporate paranoia. Seems like nobody wants to go on record, but the rumors are definitely swirling on the floor.
